Knowledge sessions are currently being organized for the partners of AGROS to dive deeper into the knowledge developed during the project. The first sessions about Digital Twin and Computer Vision were organized in November 2023. On Tuesday, December 5, the spotlight was on the cultivation plan in an online webinar, led by Monique Bijlaard of the business unit Greenhouse Horticulture of Wageningen University & Research. She played a pivotal role in designing and executing the cultivation plan for the validation trial that took place in early 2023.
The session meticulously navigated through all facets of the cultivation plan. Experts Marcel Huibers (BASF Vegetable Seeds/Nunhems), Franky van Looveren (Mechatronix), and Remy Maat (Saint Gobain Cultilène) provided insights and further explanations on steps in the cultivation plan, along with the adjustments made during the trial. Jaco den Bakker (WUR), the trial’s executor, shared his personal experiences working with the cultivation plan. The session concluded with how the knowledge and cultivation plan can be applied in practice.
Interest of growers
Despite the online setting, lively discussions unfolded among the experts and questions were asked by the participants. In addition to AGROS partners, several (major) growers also participated. This underlines the alignment of the topic with growers interests. In January and February 2024, the next knowledge sessions will take place, which will be on the possibilities of AI in horticulture, on crop modeling and on the use of sensors in autonomous control.
